• Stephanie Katie Hunter (She/Her)

    Executive Producer

Prior to forming Scissor Kick in 2021, Stephanie was known for working as a producer within the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (a post she continues to hold) and as an independent producer.

As an independent producer she has produced the national and international tour of Drone, the Fringe First winning LipSync for Cumbernauld Theatre Company, and the development of new work by emerging collective Bandwidth.

Alongside this work, Stephanie has supported organisations and networks to develop their strategic framework for new projects and leading sector wide change of working environments and standards. These experiences act as the foundation which Stephanie will use to lead Scissor Kick towards its main aim.

"Stephanie is a generous, nimble, determined producer. She'll fight for your project's success -- and win it! -- while also being a thoughtful listener and dedicated collaborator." Harry Josephine Giles

  • Nicola Lawton (She/Her)

    Associate Producer

Nicola is a freelance producer based in Glasgow whose practice predominantly lies in contemporary circus and theatre.

She has always been intrinsically linked to the arts in one form or another since taking her youth theatre's version of Wozeck by Georg Büchner to the New York Fringe Festival in 2001. This, combined with her Theatre Studies training compounded her passion for theatre and the performing arts.

Following a move to Glasgow she discovered circus and built connections within the industry after taking up a role with a circus school in 2015, where she managed events and created life-long relationships with artists.

She started to produce contemporary circus work and left the organisation in 2018 to pursue her new found passion for producing full time. What she love's most about her work is giving space to artists to be exactly that, taking the burden of the mechanics of making a show and allowing them to focus on creation.

Career highlights include No Show by Ellie Dubois - winner of the Herald Angela Award (Fringe 2017), Nosedive by Superfan Performance - winner of the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award (Barbican 2019), and Dreams of the Small Gods by Zinnia Oberski - winner of the Autopsy Award (Summerhall 2022).

  • Sophie Mcalpine (She/Her)

    Assistant Producer

Sophie comes from an arts administration background, and in a former life was a classical musician. She is excited to develop her producing practice with Scissor Kick, and is particularly interested in working alongside Stephanie and Nicola as they lead sector-wide change in working environments for artists in Scotland. Sophie is generously supported by a Federation of Scottish Theatre Producer Placement Bursary with funding from Creative Scotland.
